Bishop Chaima Commends CWA for Procuring a Bus

Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Zomba, Rt. Rev. Alfred Mateyu Chaima, has commended the Catholic Women Association (CWA) of Zomba for purchasing a 29 seater bus.

Bishop Chaima said this on Monday during the Eucharistic Celebration through which the bus was blessed and officially handed over to the CWA leadership at the Bishop’s House in Zomba.

In his homily, the Diocesan Leader said that just as God used the women in the Bible to fulfill his plans, as he did with Sarah, Hagar and Blessed Virgin Mary, the CWA have also been used by God to manifest the divine will in Zomba Diocese.

The Bishop also called upon the congregation to be happy and grateful to God because God uses them in his plans. He reminded the people that great things indeed happen when God mixes with his people as Christians sing in the song ‘Great Things.’

The Prelate stressed that with the purchase of the bus, people should see beyond, since behind everything, there is God who makes things happen through his unlimited love. He then urged people that their response to His unwavering care should be total commitment and submission to His will as the Blessed Virgin Mary did.

The Bishop also called upon other groups in the Diocese to learn more from CWA and urged the CWA to continue to be visionary.

He then advised the leadership of CWA to continue being focused and live the Diocesan Strategic Plan which will end in 2028.

In his remarks, the CWA Chaplain, Fr. Michael Mkhomeni, thanked the Bishop, Clergy and the laity for supporting the CWA to realise their long-time dream. He thanked the CWA for their endurance, patience and dedication in the course of fulfilling their goal.

The CWA Executive and Technical Chairpersons, Christina Lackion and Prisca Chirwa respectively, expressed their joy and thanked all who supported them and urged their fellow women to continue to be resourceful, determined in doing things regardless of the people-talk and grateful to God.

In their transparency, they also gave the whole financial report for the purchase of the bus.

The CWA in Zomba has several income generating activities among which are hostels and maize mills which finance some of their activities.
