Matiya Health Centre Receives New Ambulance

During the ceremony, Bishop Chaima thanked God and MIVA Austria for supporting the Diocese in providing better patients’ care. 

Bishop Chaima said that this donation of an ambulance is timely as it will address mobility challenges that the facility has been facing as it serves a population of 36, 000.

The Bishop also commended the Diocesan Health Services Coordinator, Sr. Emma Nazombe DW, for her dedication to improving health services in the Diocese.

He also urged sister Martha Misoya, In-charge of Matiya Health Centre, to ensure the ambulance is well maintained and used in line with the intentions of both the Diocese and the donor. 

Meanwhile, Sister Misoya and her team have expressed joy and gratitude, noting that the ambulance will improve response times and facilitate patient referrals.

While the donation addresses mobility at Matiya, challenges remain at Chipini, Pirimiti, Chaone and St. Robert.

The Catholic Diocese of Zomba has 7 Health Facilities namely; Matiya, Pirimiti, Chaone, St. Robert, Magomero, Mayaka and Chipini.
