Nankhunda Minor Seminary launches centenary celebration preparations

Preparations for a centenary celebration of Child Jesus-Nankhunda Minor Seminary in Zomba Diocese have been officially launched with a plea to people of good will to support the seminary.

The launch, which took place at the seminary premises, started with a Holy Mass whose main celebrant was Rt. Rev. Alfred Mateyu Chaima, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Zomba.

In his speech, Bishop Chaima said that for the centenary celebration to be successful, there is a need for every person in the Diocese and all well-wishers out there to take part in different ways such as making pledges and supporting fund-raising activities that will be lined up by the organising committee.

On the country’s economic status, the Bishop lamented the recent 44 percent devaluation of the Malawi Kwacha against the United States Dollar that it will hit hard on the citizenry and has since asked the Government of President Lazarus Chakwera to put a poor person at the centre of its policies and decisions.

He then asked the faithful to pray for Malawi so that God can give them good leaders in 2025 as the country will be heading to elections.
