Nankhunda Seminary committed to conserve the environment

The Rector for Child Jesus (Nankhunda) Minor Seminary says the Seminary remains committed to inculcate a culture of conserving the environment among its learners.

Fr. Santos Mpingu was speaking at this year’s environmental conservation day for the Seminary.

The Rector said that leaners in various schools need to be taught about the importance of conservation the environment as one way of crafting a future generation that will take stewardship in nature conservancy.

Fr. Santos added that issues of environmental conservation must be taken more seriously in order to curb climate-related disasters such as floods that the country continues to face.

Some of the activities that took place on the day include clearing the bush in the Seminary’s forest, making firebreaks and planting 430 tree-seedlings of assorted types.

On top of proclaiming the Gospel, the Catholic Diocese of Zomba takes environmental conservation issues more soberly as evidenced by the insertion of a theme on Environmental Conservation in her five-year (2024-2028) Strategic Plan.
